Markus Bick is a Full Professor and Chair of Business Information Systems at ESCP Business School. He earned a PhD in business information systems from the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany), and a Diploma (MSc equivalent) in business information systems from the University of Essen (Germany). Inside ESCP Business School he held various local academic director positions (bachelor's or master's) and currently he serves the MBA in International Management as director of studies.

His current research interests focus on digital transformation incl. digital competencies and digital maturity models, eXplainable AI, trust in LLMs, gamification, knowledge management, or Web 3.0 technologies. Based on his research he led various customised education programmes (e.g., for a large TelCo or an international buying group) and engaged in  several application orientated research and consultancy projects (e.g., media industry) as well.

He publishes his work regularly in renowned international journals (e.g., Information & Management, Decision Support Systems, Electronic Markets, Business Information Systems Engineering, or Information Systems Frontiers,. In addition, he acts as a senior editor of two reputed peer-reviewed journals: Electronics Markets and Information Systems Management.
