Certificate
Certified Human Rights Officer / Risk Monitoring Expert

The European Union has adopted and passed the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D or CSDDD). This Directive impacts over 5,000 companies within the EU, and many global players without presence in the European Union.

In our certificate course, you will learn more about human rights due diligence, its development and global expansion. This course is for people who are in charge of implementing CS3D or managing risks related to the German Supply Chain Act. It is also suitable for those overseeing risks associated with the German Supply Chain Act.

Passing the test at the end of the course, you will become a certified Human Rights Officer / Risk Monitoring Expert.

The focus of the seminar lies on the following topics:

  • The requirements of the CS3D and LkSG, as well as CSRD and other human rights related legislation for companies. This includes the Deforestation Regulation or EUDR, the Battery Regulation, the Regulation on Forced Labour or EUFLR.
  • Implementing the directives and understanding the interfaces between them
  • The role and responsibility of human rights or risk officers and other in-house functions in this area

We will provide you with the skills, tools, and knowledge needed to tackle the challenges of the CS3D and the LkSG effectively.

What you will learn

During three days, you will learn about:

  • Due diligence requirements, risk assessment, risk management and monitoring
  • Reporting on the fulfilment of the required due diligence obligations
  • Implementing and operating complaints procedure / grievance mechanisms
  • Preventive and remedial measures, and avoiding human rights violations
  • Complying with environmental conventions
  • National and international regulations in the area of human rights and related environmental regulations
  • The requirements of the UN Guiding Principles and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises
  • Best practice in implementing human rights and environmental due diligence obligations in your own business operations, and along your supply chains
  • Best practice in supply chain or value chain management as required by CS3D the LkSG and related legislation
  • EU laws and national legislation outside the EU in the area of human rights
Understanding the connection between these laws helps you see how they relate to various international standards. These include the ILO Core Labour Standards, UN Guiding Principles, OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, and the Global Compact.

This training is divided into three days:

  • The first day provides you with an overview of national and international legislation and its development
  • On days two and three, you will learn more about how to implement strategies and create an action plan for your business
You can choose to attend the first day only to gain a general understanding. To become certified as a Human Rights Officer / Risk Monitoring Expert, you need to attend three days.
